MSI now announces support for non-binary DDR5 with support for 24GB and 48GB modules. So, on your motherboard, you will be able to install up to 192 GB of memory… Quite a capacity!
Up to 192GB of memory on your MSI motherboard via non-binary DDR5 support!
MSI announces the support of memory kits with 24GB and 48GB capacity modules. This is done simply by inserting the new RAM on your motherboard, no need to update the bios of the latter. As you can see, the maximum RAM capacity increases from 128GB to 192GB by choosing four 42GB modules. On a motherboard with two slots, the capacity increases from 64GB to 96GB.
As for hardware compatibility, this concerns boards equipped with 700 series and 600 series chipsets. Similarly, models belonging to the MAG, MEG, MPG and Pro ranges are concerned… This means that the whole catalog MSI’s entire Intel series catalog is affected, and that’s good news.
The only hitch in this whole story is that non-binary kits are not abundant. Currently, at LDLC, we can only find 8GB, 16GB and 32GB modules. The future will tell us whether manufacturers will take the plunge and offer 24GB and 48GB modules.
