Earlier we were talking about the future gains that the new generation of Nvidia Ada Lovelace card could bring and especially an increase in the speed of its GDDR6X. Within the Overclocking.com community some people have spread the word that this “feat” was already a reality on the RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X from MSI. Indeed, a record of overclocking its 24 GB of GDDR6X memory from Micron has allowed to reach a speed of 24.6 Gbps (against 21 Gbps original), which means that the bandwidth of this card then increases to 1181.2 GB/s!

To check the impact of this frequency boost, what better than Ethereum mining tests? This overclocking experiment was done on the MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X cooled by air but also with the ASUS ROG Strix LC GeForce RTX 3090 Ti OC which has a liquid cooling AIO at tweatktown. The reality of this test (a bit surreal all the same) is that the MSI does better and even much better.

MSI’s air-cooled GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X reigns supreme in these ETH mining benchmarks, averaging 130-132 MH/s when equipped with its 24Gbps GDDR6X memory overclocking. Of course, this is not really interesting since mining with such a card is an economic nonsense. But the exercise here was to prepare the ground for future GDDR6X evolutions. However, we would have liked to see something else than mining in this test.
