In order to measure temperatures, we opted for the Superposition stress test in Extreme mode. We do three 5-minute runs with a 10-minute interval between each test. We took advantage of this benchmark to record the power consumption of the graphics card for the table below. In order to know the temperature in Idle, after completing the three loops of the stress test, we let the card rest for 20 minutes before reading the temperature. It should be noted that most cards have “0 dBa” technology and therefore the fans cut out below a certain temperature, often between 50 and 55°C. This means that it takes longer to dissipate the heat after a period of stress testing or gaming. A card without this technology will be noisier than others when not in use. A reminder: our temperature readings are taken in Open-Air. In a closed case, the cards will necessarily be hotter.
As we could expect from the liquid cooling system, the heat dissipation is optimal. Now, the performance will depend on the quality and size of your cooling loop. Here, we can say that ours does the job !
For the noise measurement, we use a sound level meter placed 40 cm away from our graphics card. All other components that may make noise (fans and liquid circuit pump) are disabled.
As above, the noise level will depend on your cooling loop. Here, our Alphacool AIO has two 140mm Silent Wings 3 fans that are ultra quiet.
Power Draw (full configuration):
We use a wattmeter to measure the power draw at the output of our power supply. Our modular power supply is a CORSAIR AX1600i. The result we offer you is the average of the total power consumption of our configuration. Only the graphics card changes between each reading. It is therefore easy to calculate the difference between each graphics card.
It was to be expected, it is clearly accentuated compared to the RX 6900 XT but also compared to the RTX 3090 from NVIDIA. Without yet reaching the consumption of the “Ti” version, this is one of the criticisms that can be made of this model, but there is no other choice at the moment if you want to obtain better performance. Our table reflects the performance of the GPUs from bottom to top.
