Speed and noise
Fan speed :
So we start our series of temperature readings, here, we start from zero. Let us specify the fan speeds recorded during our readings (for 12V, 8V, 5V):
Regarding the operating speeds, no surprises, the 140mm fan turns out to be rather fast. At full speed, we note a speed of about 1750 rpm against 800 rpm at low speed. The mid-range speed is 1300 rpm. In fact, we have a fan that is a little bit slower than the AK500 from DeepCool!
Noise :
Unfortunately for our ears, the 140mm fan is particularly audible at full speed, as we recorded 44.5dB under these conditions. This is louder than an Assassin III with two 140mm fans or an NH-U12A with two NF-A12x25. Fortunately, by reducing its speed, it can be made quiet, especially at low speed where it does not even tickle our sound meter. Nevertheless, at mid-range it is still too noisy compared to the competitors.
