The news could seem insignificant when you know the number of kilometers that these two cards have on their odometer. After all, it seems normal that a series that dates back a long time can at some point make way for new products. But both the RTX 2060 and the GTX 1660 are two cards that continue to carve out a more than significant share of the market. And the main reason is obviously their respective prices. Because within these two “series” there are the RTX 2060 6 GB, the RTX 2060 SUPER, the RTX 2060 12 GB, the GeForce GTX 1660, the GTX 1660 SUPER and the GTX 1660Ti. None of these cards will be produced from now on… The question that immediately comes to mind is “what references will replace them? And that’s where the problem lies. These cards have been very useful to build PCs with a contained price. What about their replacements? Because at this point, we only see the RTX 3050 taking care of the entry level, a card that is hard to find for less than 290€ at the moment.
End of life of 2060 & 1660: who to replace?
So what is Nvidia trying to do? Speed up the RTX 30 stock cleaning operation, offer a boulevard to Intel ARC or AMD cards? Objectively, it’s hard to understand where the greens want to take us.
