[LAB] Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 6600 MT/s CL32

0

We have just received the best DDR5 memory kit currently on sale in terms of frequency and timings. Indeed, Corsair just released a few days ago, a kit clocked at 6600 MT/s with timings of 32-39-39-76 for 1.40 volts. As of today, it’s easily the best kit on sale !

As we mentioned in this article, this kit is part of the « Dominator Platinum RGB » series, which is easily distinguishable thanks to its arch on the top of the kit. Within the arch, there are ten small windows which let the light pass through as well as the brand name : Dominator. Both DIMMS will be illuminated thanks to 12 addressable LEDs on each of them.

This kit is currently sold at a retail price of 484.99 euros (or approximately $ 509) which is very good compared to the competition, and especially the G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 6600 CL34 which you can buy for 492 euros. Indeed, we have noticed a significant drop in DDR5 prices in the last recent weeks.

An agressive XMP profile easily setup :

The excitement was too great not to install this kit directly to see what it has to offer. The first tests were carried out on our EVGA Z690 DARK K|NGP|N. The good news is that despite the high frequency and tight timings, there is no problem booting with the XMP profile.

The kit is also perfectly recognized in our OS. Both of our two 16 GB memory sticks are visible, which makes a total of 32 GB. The memory chips are “Hynix”, which to this day are still the best when it comes to DDR5 overclocking.

Test: DeepCool Mystique 360

A first series of tests :

After seeing the XMP profiles were perfectly stable, I wanted to try the profiles which are preconfigured in our EVGA Z690 DARK K|NGP|N’s BIOS . The idea is to take advantage of these profiles, but I first had to make a few modifications in order to be perfectly stable. So I decided to go with the 7000 MT/s CL32 profile and then chose the 7200 MT/s CL32 one.

Although it wasn’t completely stable as-is, the least we can say is that it was fixed very quickly! I did a series of tests using AIDA64 and Geekbench 3, two of the benchmarks we use quite regularly. Here you can appreciate the results :

See you in a few days for a comparative test against our other DDR5 kits which we have already tested. This test will be made on the ASUS ROG Z690 APEX (2022).

A big thanks to Corsair France for this opportunity to test the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 6600 MT/s CL32.
