AMD: a Ryzen 9 5950E with 12 cores?

The first embedded AMD Ryzen 5000s have been unveiled with surprising features, such as a 5950E processor with only 12 cores.

Up to 12 cores for Ryzen 5000 Embedded

Last year we had the first leak about the Ryzen V3000 that are part of the Embedded range of AMD. These follow the V1000 and V2000. They should be designed on the Zen 3+ (Rembrandt) architecture. We should have three processors in 6nm and with support for DDR5.

But since then, no news about these processors despite the fact that a leak is always something uncertain. The person who shared it is however a reliable source regarding AMD components. Who knows if the V3000 will arrive in the future, today we have another Embedded series with the Ryzen 5000. Ryzen 5000 embedded AMD Thanks to @9550pro we discover the Ryzen 5000E which will be supported by a first motherboard based on the X570 chipset from Advantech.

CPU name Cores / Threads Base frequencies L3 Cache TDP
Ryzen 9 5950E 12/24 3.4 GHz 64 MB 105W
Ryzen 9 5900E 10/20 3.7 GHz 64 MB 105W
Ryzen 7 5800E 8/16 3.7 GHz 32 MB 100W
Ryzen 5 5600E 6/12 3.6 GHz 32 MB 65W

We are therefore in the presence of Ryzen 5000 processors similar to the range intended for the general public, with one detail: the 5950E and 5900E has 12 and 10 cores instead of 16 and 12 cores. A change that would probably be related to a desire to limit the consumption of CPUs, despite the TDP at 105W.

No release date has been announced and the Advantech motherboard belonging to the 2022/2023 catalog is still in the “preliminary” state. We will probably know more by the end of the year.
