Valve has just published its Steam survey on the hardware used by its gamers. The results show that Intel continues to dominate the share of processors used in gaming machines. However, we also note that the Blues are losing ground. Parity between Reds and Blues should be reached next year if the trend remains unchanged.

AMD continues to gain CPU market share on Steam!

When it comes to the Intel/AMD breakdown on Steam, we can see that the Blues account for 56.44% share, compared with 43.56% for AMD. However, we must also take into account the downward trend in Intel’s share for many months now. This trend began to make itself felt in September. Now, compared with October, AMD has gained 0.52% share.

In short, the reason for this decline can be interpreted as the failure of the Arrow Lake generation to convince the gaming market. Intel launched a new generation of processors whose gaming performance was inferior to that of Raptor Lake. At the same time, Raptor Lake(refresh) was suffering from instability problems. In the meantime, AMD offers high-performance CPUs with no major problems, boosted by 3D V-Cache memory, which games appreciate. As a result, users are now replacing their old Intel PCs with AMD machines.

As for graphics cards, AMD remains stable, even nibbling at the edges, but nothing significant either. Since the stats published in July, the Reds have gone from 15.6% share to 18%. Currently, the RTX 4060 laptop remains the most popular card on the platform, with 4.44% market share.
