3090 Ti KingPin: two 12-pin connectors required!

The RTX 3090 Ti seems to have been confirmed recently, however, we are going to tell you about a prestigious custom model. Via TechpowerUp, we learn that members of the Asian forum QuasarZone have unearthed some details about the 3090 Ti KingPin. Apparently, it will require a pretty pissed off power supply!

3090 Ti KingPin: two 12-pin connectors for a maximum power consumption of 975 W!

Apparently, according to the members of this forum, the KPE version of this 3090 Ti would be severely pissed off. Indeed, the card in question would require no less than two 12-pin connectors.

As a reminder, this famous connector

seems to be the new standard for powering graphics cards. The first time we saw it in action was on the Founders Edition of the RTX 3000. It must be said that this connector does not only offer disadvantages since it is able to provide more power in a smaller footprint. But let’s get back to the point.

As we said, this new KingPin card will require two 12-pin connectors. According to our colleagues, with 450W of power consumption allowed per socket, the card will have a lot of power to spare. In fact, no less than 975W (with PCIe) can be swallowed up by this new monster! So be careful, this does not mean that the card will consume 975W, but that it is equipped, electronically, to do so.

Otherwise, this new model will, according to rumors, offer a different PCB than the current KPE. In other words, the current waterblocks are not compatible. The manufacturers specialized in watercooling will have to propose new solutions… But we don’t worry about that.

Finally, the last rumor concerning the availability since this reference should show its nose after March 2022. But these are only rumors, so take with caution.

Edit: Guru3D mentions two 12-pin connectors for a maximum power consumption of 1275W at 600W per connector. This seems to correspond more to the 12VHPWR standard.
